This is the inaugural exhibition of The Bridge, a new creative arts centre in the twin towns of Killaloe/Ballina whose aim is to be a hub not only for photography but all creative arts in the Lough Derg area. This installation is a collaborative project between local photographers Arkadiusz Baczkowski and Robert Fairfield to promote interest in the often-overlooked area of Killaloe, Ballina, and Loch Derg though landscape photography.
About Arkadiusz Backzowski
Arek is freelance photographer based in the beautiful and picturesque twin towns of Killaloe and Ballina, living and working between counties Tipperary and Clare in Ireland. After years of working in various professions, he decided to fulfil his youthful dreams of becoming a photographer and enrolled in the School of Visual Arts at Limerick College of Further Education, where he studied both, digital and traditional darkroom photography. Arek was nominated for the Student Media Awards (SMEDIAS) for News Photographer of the Year in 2012 and went on to graduate with distinction earning a Higher Professional Diploma in Photography. He currently directs a creative arts centre in Ballina, Co., Tipperary.
About Robert Fairfield
Robert’s interest in photography has spanned nearly a half-century. He is co-founder of the Killaloe Photography Group, whose community projects have included Images of Lough Derg, Faces of Lough Derg , and Now and Then, a retrospective study of the Robert French’s turn of the century work in our area supported by Creative Ireland.
