Final Year students of the innovative BA(Honours) in Fine Art Photography, Film, Video Graduate Show present their graduate show, incorporating a range of media and methodologies, to include analogue and digital photography, moving image – 16mm film and digital projection and immersive environments.
The Fine Art emphasis of this course provides a unique offering within current third-level educational provision in Ireland and is the first of its kind in the West of Ireland. Within the unique context of an environment, where lens based technologies are constantly evolving, students are encouraged to engage in explorative, experimental, multi-faceted, innovative approaches to new forms of production and a creative rethinking of visual practice, including combined, hybrid and reimagined ideas of what photographic and lens-based media can become.
The programme provides students with a comprehensive skillset, founded on the principles of traditional photographic, moving image and lens based media processes, as they apply and are relevant to the rapidly advancing field of contemporary digital media, post-photographic, and post internet discourses.
LSAD’s past and current students are recipients of national and International awards and commissions to include : Origins, Lismore Castle Arts solo graduate award, 2017, Szczecin European Film Festival Award Winner, 2018 CAMP Project, commissioned by the National Museum of Ireland, Country Life, 2019.
